Getting Started

Do I need to create an account to use Inneres Echo?+

No, Inneres Echo works completely without an account and without a cloud connection. All your data stays exclusively on your device — you don't sign in anywhere and don't share any personal information. This is intentional, because your privacy is our top priority.

How does the daily check-in work?+

Each day you can quickly check in on how you're feeling with just a few taps. Inneres Echo then adaptively adjusts the day mode — for example, more challenging content is held back during difficult phases while supportive features are brought forward. You decide how much you want to share.

What modules are there and how do I activate them?+

Inneres Echo has various modules — for example for mood tracking, body awareness, safety planning, and more. You activate each module yourself in the settings, depending on what feels relevant and helpful for you right now. Nothing is forced on you — you build your app the way it fits you.

Who is Inneres Echo designed for?+

Inneres Echo is an adaptive daily companion for people who want to mindfully support their mental health — particularly also for people with complex diagnoses such as eating disorders, emotional dysregulation, or trauma. The app does not replace therapy, but it can be a valuable support between appointments. Whether it's right for you is entirely your decision.

Is there an introduction or tutorial when I first start the app?+

Yes, when you first launch the app a short onboarding walks you through the core features. There are no mandatory steps — you can skip the tutorial and look up what individual features mean in the settings at any time. Take as much or as little time as you need.

Privacy & Data

Where is my data stored?+

All your data is stored exclusively locally on your iPhone — none of it is transmitted to servers, analyzed, or shared. There is no cloud synchronization and no backend service that reads your entries. Your device is your only data source.

Can I export or back up my data?+

Yes, you can trigger a data export as a report at any time — directly from the settings. This report contains your entries in a readable format that you can share with your therapist, for example, or simply archive for yourself. You can back up your data via the regular iCloud backup of your device.

What happens to my data when I delete the app?+

When you delete Inneres Echo, all locally stored data is completely removed from the device — there is no server where a copy remains. If you want to keep your entries, export them as a report via the settings beforehand.

Does Inneres Echo share data with third parties or advertisers?+

No. Inneres Echo does not collect tracking data, does not work with any advertising partners, and does not share any information with third parties. Since the app is local-first, your data does not leave your device in the first place — there is simply nothing to share.

Food & Body

Does Inneres Echo track calories or nutritional values?+

No, intentionally not. Inneres Echo contains no calorie, macro, or nutritional value tracking whatsoever. The focus is on your relationship with food and your body awareness — not on numbers. This is a deliberate design decision to keep the app safe for people with eating disorders.

How does Inneres Echo handle the topic of food if I have an eating disorder?+

Eating disorder safety is a core principle of the app — no triggering through restrictive language, no comparisons, no judgments. The food and body module works with perception-based questions rather than rules. You can also deactivate the module if you don't need it right now or it doesn't feel right for you.

Can I use Inneres Echo if I am currently in an active eating disorder?+

That is possible, but please stay honest with yourself and your therapist about what feels helpful and what does not. Inneres Echo is not a therapy replacement and not a treatment program. If certain features don't feel right for you, simply deactivate them — the app is built so you have full control over that.

Is there sport or movement tracking in the app?+

Movement is not a standalone tracking module in Inneres Echo. The app does not link movement to food or calories in any way. If physical activity appears in another context — for example as a resource during mood fluctuations — it always does so in a non-judgmental way and without any compensatory framing.

Crisis & Safety

What is crisis mode and how do I activate it?+

Crisis mode is a special view in Inneres Echo that provides targeted companionship during difficult moments — with calming content, your safety plan, and direct access to emergency contacts. You can activate it via a quick-access button or through the check-in. You can exit it at any time when you feel more stable.

What is a safety plan and how do I create one?+

A safety plan is a personal document you prepare during calmer moments — with warning signs, helpful strategies, trusted contacts, and emergency numbers. In Inneres Echo you can create it directly in the app and access it immediately in crisis mode. Ideally you create it together with your therapist.

What is the hold alarm and what is it for?+

The hold alarm is a feature that can create a time buffer for you in acute crises — you set yourself a short waiting period before taking an action you might regret. It is not a substitute for professional help, but it can help you pause for a moment and access your resources.

Can Inneres Echo guarantee my safety in a crisis?+

No, the app cannot do that — and we say that honestly. Inneres Echo is a companion tool, not an emergency service. If you are in an acute crisis or worried about your safety, please contact the crisis hotline directly (in Germany: 0800 111 0 111, free, 24/7) or emergency services at 112. The app can accompany you, but it cannot replace professional help.

What should I do if I feel very unwell but am not sure whether it is a crisis?+

Trust your feeling. If something feels heavy, that is reason enough to seek support — no matter what you call it. You can use the check-in in Inneres Echo to see what support the app offers, or simply call someone you trust directly. You do not have to wait until it gets worse.

Account, Costs & Beta

Does Inneres Echo cost anything?+

Inneres Echo is currently free to use. Since we are still in the beta phase, the pricing model may change in the future — we will communicate about that transparently before anything changes. Existing beta users will be informed in advance.

How do I get access to the beta?+

Currently Inneres Echo runs via a waitlist. You can register on our website and will be notified as soon as a spot is available. We are rolling out access gradually to ensure the app provides a good experience for everyone.

Is Inneres Echo available for iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch?+

Currently Inneres Echo is primarily developed for iPhone. iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch are planned but not yet available. Once you are on the iPhone version, you will automatically be informed about new platforms as they are released.

I am a beta tester — how do I submit feedback?+

You can send feedback directly via the feedback form in the app or reach us by email. As a beta tester your feedback is especially valuable — the more concretely you describe bugs or improvement ideas, the better we can develop the app further for everyone.

Issues & Technical

The app won't start or keeps crashing — what can I do?+

First try fully closing the app and reopening it. If that does not help, restart your iPhone. Also check whether an update for Inneres Echo is available in the App Store — many crashes are fixed with updates. If the problem persists, please report it via the feedback form with a brief description of when the crash occurs.

My entries are gone — can I restore them?+

Since Inneres Echo is local-first, there is no server from which data could be restored. If you have an iCloud backup of your iPhone, you can check via iOS settings whether an older version of the app data is stored there. For the future we recommend regularly creating a data export as a report.

How do I update Inneres Echo to the latest version?+

Updates are distributed via the regular App Store. Open the App Store, tap your profile picture in the top right, and scroll to available updates. During the beta we may provide you with new versions directly via TestFlight — in that case you will receive a notification from TestFlight.

Inneres Echo is very slow or responding with a delay — what helps?+

Performance issues sometimes occur when the iPhone has little free memory. Close other apps running in the background and restart the device. If the problem occurs regularly, please note which action triggers the delay and share that as feedback with us — that directly helps us with optimization.

Can I use Inneres Echo on multiple devices at the same time?+

Since there is no cloud synchronization, your data always exists only on the device where you entered it. Using it simultaneously on multiple devices is technically possible, but the data will not be synchronized. Multi-device support is planned for future versions.
